DESCRIPTION:Event by Riley County Genealogical Society\nSunday\, June 28th – 2:30 pm – Manhattan Public Library\nKansas was a key crossroads of frontier trails. It was the statewhich helped bring the legend of the cowboy to life\, from Abileneto Dodge City and from the Chisholm Trail and Gunsmoke fameto the beef industry of today.\n\nThis presentation shares the richcowboy history and folklore of Kansas using stories and cowboypoems\, presented by poet lariat (NOT laureate)\, Ron Wilson.\nAudience members will enjoy Ron’s poetry that he says is “all-original\, humorous\, family-friendly\, patriotic\, and most of the time\,it even rhymes.”\n\nThis RCGS program is sponsored by Humanities Kansas. It is Free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Duration: 2 hr\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe public is invited to attend the Downtown City Commission Candidate Public Forum hosted by the Downtown Manhattan\, Inc Board of Directors. The public will have about one hour to ask questions related to Manhattan and the issues we face as a community. The forum is moderated by former Chamber President\, Lyle Butler. Candidates will be given questions specific to downtown issues prior to the forum and asked to answer them for the public. Light refreshments and water will be provided along with a cash bar. The forum is being held at Bocker’s II downtown event venue at 221 N. 4th Street. Ample parking is available across the street at 4th and Leavenworth.
