Downtown Manhattan CCA “The Outdoor Refreshment Zone”
What is a CCA?
A Common Consumption Area (CCA) allows legal patrons to carry and consume alcoholic beverages within the CCA boundaries in compliance with state and local CCA laws.
This just means that if you’d like to take your alcoholic drink with you when you leave a participating establishment, you may walk around the downtown area with it. You may also take it into other downtown businesses if they allow it. Please look for stickers on doors as you enter. Signs and sidewalk paint will let you know the boundaries of the refreshment zone. Please discard your drink before leaving the Downtown CCA.
No outside alcohol is permitted. Drinks are only allowed outside of establishments in the approved plastic cup.
The CCA is in effect 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the week, all year round, unless temporarily suspended by the City Manager for certain downtown events.
