Founded in 2021 and opened to the public in 2024, the Museum of Art + Light (MoA+L) is a contemporary art museum dedicated to exploring the convergence of visual art, digital technology, and immersive experiences. Summary of Position

The Museum Store Associate (Full-Time) is a retail-focused position responsible for driving store sales, delivering an exceptional guest experience, and maintaining a visually compelling and well-stocked retail environment. This role serves as a key revenue-generating position within the Museum Store, engaging guests, recommending products, and translating the museum experience into retail purchases. In addition to instore responsibilities, this position supports the museum’s growing online store operations, including order fulfillment and inventory coordination. This is an hourly, non-exempt position requiring professionalism, initiative, and a strong customer service and sales mindset.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Regular Schedule: Wednesday through Sunday

  • Days Off: Monday and Tuesday (consistent, set days off each week)
  • Workload is generally steady and guest-focused, with higher volume on weekends
  • Requires availability for:
    • Occasional evenings to support museum events and programming
    • Select holidays, based on museum operations and event schedule

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Museum Store & Café Manager

Collaborates with store team members, security and facilities staff, and museum staff supporting programs and events

Key Responsibilities

Retail Sales & Guest Engagement

  • Actively engage guests to drive retail sales through product recommendations and conversation
  • Promote museum merchandise, exhibitions, and memberships to enhance the visitor experience
  • Identify opportunities for add-on or complementary purchases
  • Deliver a high level of customer service that encourages repeat visits and positive guest experiences

Point of Sale & Transactions

  • Operate the POS system for all retail transactions
  • Accurately handle cash, credit, and digital payments
  • Assist with opening/closing procedures and drawer balancing as assigned

Store Operations & Merchandising

  • Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing retail displays
  • Restock merchandise and ensure inventory is presented attractively
  • Assist with merchandising updates, seasonal displays, and product rotation
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs

Online Store Support

  • Fulfill and package online orders accurately and efficiently
  • Coordinate shipping or pickup of online purchases
  • Assist with maintaining accurate inventory between in-store and online platforms
  • Support basic online merchandising updates as needed

General Support

  • Support museum programs, events, and high-traffic periods
  • Maintain awareness of the store environment and communicate any issues to management or security
  • Provide occasional backup support to the café during peak periods or staffing needs

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong customer service and sales-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable initiating conversations and recommending products to guests
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a steady-paced environment
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work a consistent Wednesday–Sunday schedule
  • Basic computer proficiency; POS experience preferred
  • Retail or hospitality experience preferred
  • Maintains a professional appearance and upholds museum standards for dress, cleanliness, and presentation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Hourly wage: $16-$18 per hour, depending on experience
